James

Hymns and spiritual songs communicate a particular spirituality and a particular theology. They can powerfully proclaim a gospel of love and liberation or they can narrow and distort the gospel message. They can invite us into intimacy with a God who loves us, or they can reinforce our fears and false beliefs. As a Missionary of the Sacred Heart, my desire is to live and promote a spirituality consistently based on God’s compassion, revealed especially in the humanity of Jesus. Through words and music, I desire to give expression to a spirituality that recognises the reality of the Divine in the daily joys and struggles of life, and in the desires of the human heart.

Songs are poems with wings! Words carried on the wings of a melody can enter the heart very directly. Theycan touch the heart, speak to the heart, and evoke a response from the heart.

Heartvoice Double CD

The 14 songs on the album have a wide range of uses. Some are ideal for personal reflection and prayer or for retreat experiences. Some are ideal for liturgical use (eucharist, ceremonies of commitment, healing rituals, reconciliation, marian feasts). Instrumental versions of all the songs are provided on a second CD. This is ideal for communities who lack musical accompaniment, or for use within liturgies as ritual music or meditative accompaniment. A music resource book (including keyboard, guitar, and instrument parts) will be available soon.
